Our History

Founded on Principles. Driven by Purpose.

Committed to Our People, Customers, and Communities.

Lindahl Reed was founded by Nicole Hough with a bold vision: to create a principle-driven organization dedicated to delivering exceptional service, fostering employee success, and making a lasting impact on the communities and nation we serve.

At Lindahl Reed, we believe that culture, mission, and impact are the heart of everything we do. We are committed to building an environment where employees feel celebrated, supported, and inspired to do their best work—where being part of the Lindahl Reed team means contributing to something greater than yourself.

Equally central to our mission is our unwavering dedication to our customers. We view every partnership as an opportunity to make a meaningful and lasting difference. By understanding our customers’ goals, challenges, and missions, we work side-by-side with them to deliver world-class solutions that are practical, innovative, and sustainable. We pride ourselves on creating long-term relationships built on trust, responsiveness, collaboration, and results.

Our customers inspire us to continuously evolve, improve, and strive for excellence. We measure our success not only by the quality of our services, but by the positive impact we help our customers create in their organizations and the broader world.

At Lindahl Reed, we aspire to be more than a service provider—we aim to be a trusted partner delivering market-defining results and a force for good. Together with our employees, customers, and communities, we are building a safer, healthier, and more secure and sustainable future.

Our Name: A Legacy of Strength, Adventure, and Purpose

The name Lindahl Reed captures the spirit and enduring values upon which our company was founded.

“Lindahl” honors John Lindahl, a close friend of founder Nicole Hough’s family. Born in Sweden, John became a sailor at the young age of 13, setting out to explore the world. He sailed around Cape Horn—one of the most challenging maritime passages—twice before eventually settling in the United States. Although he lacked formal education, John’s deep knowledge of the sea and passion for adventure made him a trusted mentor. He shared his skills generously, inspiring others to pursue knowledge, embrace challenges, and overcome obstacles. His dedication to mastery, resilience, and service aligns closely with Lindahl Reed’s commitment to fostering growth, facing challenges boldly, and making meaningful contributions to the world around us.

“Reed” comes from Nicole Hough’s middle name, passed down from her mother’s maiden name. Nicole’s mother was raised on a small family farm in rural Illinois, where connection to the land, a strong sense of purpose, and perseverance were core values. Balancing full-time work with her studies, Nicole’s mom pursued higher education by starting at her local community college when Nicole was in elementary school, then earned scholarships to undergraduate and graduate school.  She persevered and never gave up on her goal, and earned her Ph.D. more than 20 years after starting her educational journey. She became a university professor of nursing, mentor to her students, and a published and respected researcher and clinician, always dedicated to improving health outcomes of her patients and the people of the community. Her journey—marked by hard work, lifelong learning, and a dedication to mentorship—has deeply influenced Lindahl Reed’s culture. Her story serves as a daily reminder that through resilience, education, and service, we can transform lives and communities for the better.

Together, Lindahl and Reed represent a legacy of excellence, opportunity, resilience, and service—principles that form the foundation of Lindahl Reed and drive our mission every day.
