WASHINGTON, DC, February 26, 2025 – Lindahl Reed, Inc., a leading provider of technical, scientific, and engineering services to the Department of Energy (DOE), Department of Defense (DoD), Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and other federal agencies, is pleased to welcome John Shonder to its Leadership Team. As Director of Business Development, John will drive new customer engagement, opportunity capture, and proposal development across Lindahl Reed’s energy innovation, national security, and environmental stewardship business sectors.

John has played a pivotal role in advancing energy initiatives across the federal government. During 30+ years at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), he has been widely recognized for his research on the technical and economic aspects of energy performance contracting. His work established performance contracting as a trusted federal energy management tool, contributing to more than $18 billion in private-sector investments in federal energy security and efficiency since 1998. Most recently, he returned to ORNL as a Senior Advisor, supporting the lab’s work with DOE’s Federal Energy Management Program (FEMP) to assist federal agencies in enhancing energy and water resiliency and efficiency.

John previously served as the Director of the Sustainability Performance Office at DOE, where he led efforts to enhance energy and operational efficiency across DOE’s entire 83-site complex, including 17 National Laboratories. His private sector experience includes five years at a leading energy service company (ESCO), where he launched the company’s UESC program, forging strategic partnerships with gas and electric utilities nationwide.

As the author or co-author of more than 50 publications on federal energy management, John is an expert in energy systems, performance contracting, and infrastructure modernization. His technical skills and strategic vision make him a tremendous asset to Lindahl Reed’s team.

John is enthusiastic about the new opportunity, remarking, “I joined Lindahl Reed to leverage my experience in federal energy programs to enhance the resilience, security, efficiency, and effectiveness of the federal government. The company’s mission aligns with my passion for driving impactful solutions that strengthen and improve government operations.”

“We are thrilled to welcome John Shonder to the Lindahl Reed team,” said Nicole Hough, Lindahl Reed’s President and CEO. “With his extensive experience in energy management and federal contracting, John will be a key driver in expanding our business and strengthening our partnerships with federal and utility clients.”
