Lindahl Reed was awarded a two-year contract with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), Office of Energy and Environmental Policy to conduct a specialized analysis of agriculture carbon markets. The award builds on the agriculture carbon market analysis work conducted by Lindahl Reed for the USDA in 2019-2020, and will further assess new opportunities to provide additional incentives for farmers and ranchers to reduce their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
Under this contract, Lindahl Reed agriculture, carbon offset, and carbon market experts will conduct an agriculture carbon demand analysis to assess the market for offsets, evaluate carbon market strategies for the USDA, and provide other services related to agricultural carbon markets. The support will include analysis of both regulatory and voluntary carbon markets as they apply to agriculture carbon offsets as well as non-traditional markets.
“The agriculture sector represents one of the largest opportunities to achieve GHG reductions for the U.S. Finding ways for working farmers and ranchers to participate in future agriculture environmental markets is critical to achieving significant and sustained GHG emissions reductions,” said Nicole R Hough, Lindahl Reed’s President and Chief Executive Officer. “With deep industry insights of agricultural carbon markets and offsets, we are proud to continue our support of this important work and to be a trusted advisor to the USDA.”
